POETRY AS A MEDITATION ~ APRIL CHANAE MADISON

Poetry as Meditation

Sculpting your thoughts into a poem can take you on a journey where your conscious mind is momentarily cast adrift.
The creation of any kind of art can be as much a form of meditation as a vehicle for self-expression. Energetically splashing colors of paint onto a canvas can be like casting the weight of the world off your shoulders, while raising your voice to hit the high notes of a song can inspire you to release your fears so you can reach new heights in your own life. And then there is the act of meditation that can take place when you create poetry. Sculpting your thoughts and emotions into a poem can take you on a journey into your inner universe where your conscious mind is momentarily cast adrift.

Like other forms of meditation, writing poetry requires that you stay fully present during the process, rather than focusing on any outcome. In doing so, you release any inhibitions or ideas of "what needs to happen," so that your thoughts can flow freely through you. When you write poetry, you are able to see the reflections of your innermost self imprinted on a page.

If you'd like to experience poetry as a meditation practice, you might want to try this exercise:

--> Set aside twenty minutes of alone time in a quiet space.
--> Let the poem/lyrics reveal themselves to you organically.
--> When you are ready, set pen to paper, let the words flow. --> Freely let the message emerge.
--> Spelling, grammar, or logic are of little importance.
--> Be as descriptive, visually precise, rhythmic, or lyrical as you want to be.
--> When you feel complete, put the pen down.
--> Breath in deeply, and read over what you've written.
--> Appreciate this work of art you have created.
--> As you review your work, thoughts and emotions repressed before, are making themselves known so you can process and release them.
--> Writing poetry as a form of meditation lets you slow your mind long enough for you to get out of your own way, so that your soul can freely express its deepest yearnings.

WEEPING HEAVEN ~ HAROWOLO ABDUL ROKEEB

Inspired by Charlie Chaplin's speech for world peace 75yrs ago.
   "Weeping Heaven"
Darkness is now the apparel of earth,
Sublimely gale saunters around like fallen angel,
With spherical blazing eyes gazing for one to swallow,
Papers and sand glide freely amid the sanctuary of wind,
Children laughed hysterically away the vinegar,
On their dying tongues like the facades of switchblade soldiers.

Then once, it murdered the earth,
With beatings of water and thunders,
In my hideout,  cold water runs down my spine,
And for all I travel back to my mother's laps,
For cover from the leprosy hands of thunderstruck,
Legs of Africa meander again,
leaping in the rain with a diatribe to that nature.

Harvest gives birth to  bountiful crops,
Hands  of harvesters prune and sell the babies,
Some,  consume them to their fullest of full,
And I laugh with sorrow,
Why are thee savaged everyday of thy babies?
Why are the harvesters dragging our births?
Why our desires always petered out? Alas! This rain rains fire year by year,
It knocks day  by day  on every door.

THE BEAST INSIDE ME ~ SOMELELE NTAMO

The beast inside me
By Somelele Ntamo
______________________________
Those who know me
Say that I'm sweet
Can't fight for himself
Timid and weak
But deep down inside
There's a beast
A bloodthirsty demon
Awaiting to be unleashed
Its darkness flows
through my veins
It feeds and grows
upon my pains
An amalgamated concoction of
hatred and anger
An active volcano
Ready to rupture
A destructive and malignat force
That wants to seize and possess me
But I have to fight it with my own will
I'm afraid what will happen when it takes over me
That's why I hide it with smiles
And make everyone happy
Or else their demise will be
swift and gory

TEACH A CHILD BY ~ CHALSE DAVID

TEACH A CHILD

Children posses both tender and delirium
Depending on the discipline they take
Though it has been the hardest plectrum
They'll yet dance to tune succession paid

They're piously made of peace, licensed
By the creator for man to put in perfection
Through the cycles of life until it is fenced
Either of good or deviltry act disposition.

We do not need violence to progress
Else we will halt in faceless shadows
That pleases the devil, not human lives
Passing from teachings our teens hold.

Teach a child calmness and nonviolence
Thru' Religions programs and ministries
And other not-for-profit commitment intense
That promotes peace for a better day ahead.

Plodding the ride on life's ruddy roads
Remember we build for humanitarian welfare
If earth cannot be like heaven, let's decode
These to immediate progeny of humankind!

UNITY FOR UNIVERSAL HAPPINESS ~ DR RINZIN RINZIN

Unity for Universal Happiness

Diversity, may it be in anything-
Among the living or the non-living
Within species of flora or fauna
Is but the wealth of Mother Earth

Diversities in mankind
Of race, colour and gender
Are but creation’s great wonders
Each with its own beauty incomparable

Diversities in faith, politics and culture
Are but our own creations ingenious
Crafted to suit our thoughts and actions
To try to match means with ends

Yet in the unity of such diversities rests
The degree of magnanimity of humankind’s superiority
The measure of humankind’s true wisdom
And the ultimate test of humankind’s humanness

Let’s value the diversity among ourselves
For in them lies our identities
Let’s respect it in all co-inhabitants of Earth
For respect is a reciprocal feeling

Let’s stand united in all our diversities
For in unity lies our common pursuits-
The pursuit for universal peace and harmony
The pursuit for universal wellbeing and happiness

GOD AS POETRY EDITOR - DAVID THANE CORNELL

GOD AS POETRY EDITOR
He dips His pen in the black hole of night
To recover an image and give it more light.
Sometimes He uses a digital pad,
Revising the first idea He had,
Editing in and out of time,
Honing the meter and smoothing the rhyme.
He deftly spells and abbreviates
Cities, towns, mountains and lakes.
The metaphor of His master plan
Is hand to God and God to man.
And when the poets have had their say,
He folds them all, with love, away.

Meet Philip Mainge ~ Meet your administrator series

"I don't know what to say. I feel humbled. I was once a young kid. I taught myself how to write poems by writing my 1st poem titled ," OAU NO MORE" in 1989.It was bro-
adcasted over VOK( now KBC)! Having stated that I accept. But just for the sake of knowing, how did you arrive at your decision? Why did you(Balogun Iyanu) pick me out? However I love the youth. It is via our directives( web the aged) that the youth do the right thing. Reading the book "The Republic" one learns that the aged must lead the young! Why? The case of the hen & the egg. Hope you will get in touch with me later on."
This was the joyous words of Kenyan poet and prolific writer Philip Mainge after he recieved an offer to become Chief Administrator of our first affiliated group TEENS GOT POETRY, web...
www.teensgotpoetry.blogspot.com

READ HIS INTERVIEW BELOW

Thank you for a list of questions that are excellent and answerable by one who loves teens. I was a teen at one time. That is 74-19 years ago! I can describe that old "world" as compared to the digital world that was just like a dream! A dream that has come true.
When asked where he got to know TEENS GOT POETRY from the Facebook, FB
When did your love for teenage poetry began
We read so that we learn. We learn via reading what others have written. The reader digest what one has read.
How can teens impaci the global populace and the world at large?
There must be freedom to say Yes or No! One makes decision.

With this new role as cheif Administrator what do you seek to achieve?

change of behaviour. Teens to love reading to gain knowledge, be creative & innovative, read about cultures and traditions by learning their mother tongue and not to imitate what other youths do. It bid.

What ways will you use to ensure qualitative poetry is @The league of POETS?

 via competitions in poetry.

Why should parents let their child/children participate in TEENS GOT POETRY contest?

To change their perception in life because poetry has rhymes that are like songs with very special rhyming words that drive the reader (teen) into the world of poets only!

Why should grants be given to teens got poetry and how can this grant help to favour the Group.

Q7: Care should be taken when giving grant to teens. Not all will pursue what is required (like us ). Growing mind is like a pendulum- swings from side to side!

How do you think working with founding father Of The League of POETS Balogun Iyanu go with you.

I was asked (offered) to team up with him. I love teens. They grow to be old men like me! But they are in a better world compared to my old world we are now living behind.

Meet Adriatik Jaçe from Albania ~ Meet your administrator series

Adriatik Jaçe is an Albanian poet from Përmet who holds office as a governor in TEENS GOT POETRY as per meritorious silver role.
After we had named him governor Adriatik's response on this had been so passionate , his words were pure and full hearted.

"I am excited to be a member of this amazing group.  Working with children, teenagers and the youth, by creating a spiritual bond with them through verse and music is a blessing from God. Achieving to  transmit them a part of yourself your creativity and to take from them the momentum and brilliance, these is  the most beautiful symbiosis of generations who want to do literature.  A literature that remains time and transmits value.  I wish them to be caressed and work hard because, they're starting a new era of there lives, with the queen of literature, the poem".

Read our interesting interview with him.
Q- from where did you get to know this group?
This group was an immediate need.  I am his guest part of the creator since his creation.
Q- Has the league Of POETS added anything to you?
2 - This league makes me regenerate and look for adolescents and children what I have the courage to do.  To pour on paper and publish for all their poetic spirit.
Q- Do you promise to work by the rules and regulations of the league?
3- I am a poet I am a free spirit and a perpetual opposition.  But if the rules do not affect my freedom, no problem.
Q- What do you think make the league of POETS unique?
4-It's unique that it's the only one in this type.  There is a group of writers and poets from all over the world who run it.  So the diversity of cultures and the talent of everybody makes this league unique.
Q-How do you think you can lead this group to move forward?
5-My thoughts as well as the experiences of reading and creating my poetics, as well as the rule of my military spirit and the reflexes of a business man, are those that, together, create a heartfelt but solid leader.  Plus my ideas are the ones that generate flow and quality.
Q-What quote would you like to say to inspire the younger aspiring poets?
6-I said and often say, the poet is not born but born.  Poetry is the queen of literature and it is she who chooses her servants.  It can not be written either by plan or by norm.  Only talent and reading.  Who has let him come here and prefetish together, something that I do can make one of the other moderators.  All for one and one for everybody.  Do not breach the quality to be quantity.
Q-What do you think makes TEENS GOT POETRY unique?
7-It makes it unique because we help raising.  Since childhood and until they become reindeer.  We have our plans that if they become reality, they will find here what you lack.  Real world via virtual.
Q-What experience do you have that makes you capable to earn this position
8-I emphasized above, I am a military, a businessman and a poet.  I am married in a beautiful country like Albania.  There are four seasons there.  Wake up the sun and kiss the moon.
9-I did not exaggerate and think like an academy.

  -Q SECTION B
1- We poets are free spirits.  We do not place shackles on either the body or the soul. We are simply the real peace spokesman of people suffering from love.  We recognize suffering and joy.
2-How good it would be for me as if in my beginnings I had a mentor.  To guide or help my creations to be published and valued.  But I did not.  Therefore, as far as I can, I want to help young people.
3- Because the world's cell is a family.  A poet makes the whole family proud of coming and then with his own success, the country he comes from and the region.  A poet has the effect of recognizing an area, a culture.  Makes globalization a pain or a joy.  So a young poet is a value and an incentive for the development of a region or country from which he has come out or lives.
4- I want to have our global academy of literature, to have our publications, our periodicals.  To be like a registered patent.  Let's help and give scientific title
Let's help and give scientific titles. Why not a prize of a global literacy for literature?
5-I'm about quality.  If you want more members then create differentiated classes.  Poetry should also be twice as secure with the copyright as well as with the organization's right reserved.
6-The first must allow it because his child is given a chance to prove himself in a stream without a kidney.  The child's time will be filled with talents and productive activity.  The child will value himself and the people around him.  It will become more beloved and more pensive.  The second.  It will be promoted, published and evaluated by professionals and readers.  And the creations of the best will see the light of the publication.  Third if we do what we think will have financial gains.
7 - Grants if they pride themselves with discretion will diminish the street children and remove them from vices.  A read book will take the useless time that would lead a young man to address the vices of the time.  Plus, it would shift quality and make it accessible to all of a library or section where literacy is being promoted and promoted.
8- It is quite reasonable and talented.
9-We are different and come from different forms and cultures.  So we are the world of mining.  We are tolerant and good readers.  When we have discrepancy, we put the thought into a constructive debate and find the right path in the interest of work.
10 If we respect each other and the linguistic and literary formation of each one, there is no obstacle.  We are the group that we have a goal "Making together and creating a quality podium for the poetry of children and young people." This is enough to be in a trench.
11-That's why you should ask the one who made the choice.  But I thought that based on some merits that believed to justify the trust of the founder of this initiative.

Meet Dr Rinzin Rinzin from Bhutan ~ Meet your administrator series

DrRinzin Rinzin is a poet, author and scholar from Lhuntshi, Bhutan. He is a prolific writer with genuine love for young poetry. We have chosen him as per Meritorious Silver Role ( MSR ) to be a governor and administrator of " TEENS GOT POETRY "

When we presented this offer to him, then in April we spotted once again the true love for young poetry in him.

"I feel totally honored and humbled by your most generous offer. Nothing gives me more happiness than the opportunity to try to inspire children to grow up with pure human qualities as well as to motivate them to take up keen interest in literature" he had said.
His message to our younger poets is an inspiring one
"Look at the world with an open heart, and you will see light even in the dark. Take a picture of the light, and paste it on a piece of paper. This is your poem "

Read our interview with him below

1- From your perspective, tell us how you think world peace can be promoted through poetry in this generation and in the next generations and time to come.
World peace cannot be achieved through isolated efforts or actions. It’s a shared pursuit, and therefore warrants shared thoughts and actions. Since children learn from observations and/or experiencing events within their environment and the world at large, the lest each of us can do is to instill love for peace in their hearts. Poetry is an effective tool to share the core human values of love, compassion, tolerance, and friendship. Thus, supplying the world with quality writings to promote peace  can go a long way in educating and/or reminding the readers to do their own part in contributing to the promotion of universal peace.

2- When did your love for teenage poetry began.
About five years ago when I began to compose my own poems. 2-How good it would be for me as if in my beginnings I had a mentor.  To guide or help my creations to be published and valued.  But I did not.  Therefore, as far as I can, I want to help young people.

3- How can teenage poetry impact the global populace and the world at large.
If teens take keen interest in poetry, families, communities and societies to begin to take more interest in poetry since it’s normally the teens that the elders find difficult to manage and therefore try to find every possible way to keep them meaningful engaged so that they don’t indulge in anti-social activities or take to substance abuse and the like. The world at large will become a more cultured and happier place to live in.

4-What do you seek to achieve with this new role as a governor for Teens got poetry editorial publishing committee.
Creation of a global community of teens taking up keen interest in reading and writing poetry and enhancing teens’ access to poetry with appropriate contents of wider interest to them.

5- What ways will you use to ensure qualitative poetry is @The league of POETS
We’ll have to work on various modalities to ensure the following:
1. Appropriate contents are posted;
2. Teens are encouraged to actively participate;
3. Parents support the group and their children; and
4. Interesting programs like poetry competitions and publications are produced, beside others.

6- Why should parents let their child/children participate in TEENS GOT POETRY contest?
To provide opportunity to their children not only to develop their literary and intellectual capacity but also to keep them usefully engaged so that they don’t engage in unproductive and/or unhealthy activities.

7- Why should grants be given to teens got poetry and how can this grant help to favour the Group.
The Group has to organize various activities like poetry competition, awarding of prizes to talented teen poets, publishing books and organizing various event. All these will require at least some modest funding.

8- How do you think working with founding father Of The League of POETS Balogun Iyanu go with you.
Hon’ble Balogun Iyanu is a talented poet with unparalleled enthusiasm in promoting global literature, particularly poetry. Further, he is a brilliant and hardworking young man with a big heart who thinks out of the box for literary enthusiasts and humanitarians for the benefit of all the world. I admire him a lot and I am confident that we’ll be able to achieve a lot together.

9-How can you and Balogun Iyanu and all other league of POETS working together move TEENS GOT POETRY FORWARD.
(Please, refer to answers for Q-5)

10-How do you plan to work will all other officials.
We already have a Messenger Group to hold meetings and discuss issues of wider interest, and we are also connected through other communication channels like emails and WhatsApp. Thus, it’s easy to work together, although we are from different countries.

11-How do you feel to be chosen officially by the leagues founder, to hold the post of Governor, Teens Got Poetry?
I feel honored. It’s a very humbling honor.
